We are thrilled to let you know that the 2010 Benefit Gala was a huge success and we want
to thank all our sponsors, donors and attendees. Due to the phenomenal support of our Premier Sponsor, Northwest Farm Credit Services, along with Gordon Thomas Honeywell, Port Blakely Tree Farms, and all the sponsors, we were able to raise over $58,000 to help fund the Leadership Program.
The Greater Tacoma Trade and Convention Center was transformed into a stunning representation of traditional Squaxin heritage, the Pacific Northwest’s abundant seafood trade and the beautiful natural resources of Washington State.
The reception included a delicious oyster bar compliments of Taylor Shellfish and wine tasting by Kestrel Vintners, Covington Cellars, Chateau Ste. Michelle, Whisper Ridge Winery and Olsen Estates. Our friends from Orondo Cider Works gave samples of their famous hard cider again this year. A tempting array of silent auction items was available to complete an unforgettable reception.
Graduates, investors and friends were called to dinner by an inspiring Squaxin drum performance. The outstanding dinner was prepared by the Convention Center’s own Chef Allan Wambaa and accompanied by generously donated Ste. Michelle and Walter Dacon Wines.
Ann Goos, our gracious and lovely emcee, presented the Gala program, live auction and Gala video amidst great conversation and much laughter. The highlight of the evening was our awards presentation. Norm Schaaf, Class 9, was the recipient of the Excellence In Leadership Award and long-time AgForestry investor Green Diamond Resource Company received the Outstanding Investor Award. Congratulations to both recepients!
