Meet Jack Felgenhauer
The Washington Agriculture and Forestry Education Foundation has received a $100,000 gift from agricultural leader and former National Association of Wheat Growers President, Jack Felgenhauer. This gift will be used to endow the “Jack Felgenhauer Agriculture Issues Seminar” and help ensure the long-term sustainability of the Leadership Program.

Jack’s journey in the agricultural world began with his birth on his family farm in 1921. Over the course of his life Jack would work on this 2,000 acre farm where they grew wheat, barley, blue grass seed and lentils. Jack became a member of the Washington State Wheat Growers Association and in 1970 was elected President. By 1980, Jack had been chosen as the President of the National Association of Wheat Growers. Throughout his life, Jack has been actively involved in his community and Church, Rotary International and served on the International Executive Service Corp. Jack has traveled all across the country and world wide visiting locations where wheat is grown and purchased, learning how communities are successful and able to sustain their way of life.

Jack's Challenge:

In the spirit of recognizing the need to grow leaders today, Jack has challenged AgForestry Alumni and industry leaders to match his investment by contributing a total of $100,000 in new funds to the AgForestry Program Annual Fund by June 30, 2012.

Jack’s commitment to the wheat industry and to agriculture shines through his commitment to the Washington Agriculture and Forestry Education Foundation. By investing in leadership development, Jack Felgenhauer is assuring that local leaders are being developed and are effectively working for healthy farms, forests, and communities. “Having lived a lifetime of leadership for agriculture and his community, Jack recognizes the importance of investing in the development of future leaders,” observed Dave Roseleip, President of the Foundation. “His contribution will help assure prepared and informed leaders for our industries and rural communities.
